Welcome to
Our Helping Hands of Bama
ONE
BIG
FAMILY
On, November 1, 2015, Our Helping Hands of Bama was created by Susan and Jack Barrett. The idea was to help those in need with food and clothing. Susan and Jack opened a Clothing Closet at their home to serve the community. Monthly they made blessing bags and went searching for the homeless to help from Chilton to Jefferson Counties. They would go under bridges, in homeless camps and near homeless shelters to help those in need. Susan and Jack also started a program to feed the seniors in the Chilton and Shelby County areas, Serving the Seniors. In 2016 Susan was involved in an automobile accident and unfortunately, they had to shut the doors to their outreach.

On January 1, 2022, Our Helping Hands of Bama was reopened this time with some changes. Since the reopening of their outreach, they have decided to focus more on their home community of Chilton County. However, this does not mean they will not help in other counties as needed but are focused more so on Chilton County. Currently they are rebuilding the clothing closet and hope to have it reopened by March 1, 2022. They have reopened the Food Pantry and is available for those in need.
